I am still amazed that so many small business owners are completely baffled when it comes to social media strategy. However, I am starting to see more businesses in the St. Louis area recognize that digital marketing is more than checking their Facebook page once a month. It’s exciting to see so many opportunities for digital content creators springing up. When you hire a full-time person or a freelancer, you’re giving yourself a great platform for thought leadership. It’s okay to be an expert in your field and share what you know. And I’ve found one of the most effective ways to do that is through video. When a company has a YouTube channel with stellar content, people know your business and know that when a need arises, they can call you because they already believe you to be an expert. They’ve watched your trainer videos, they’ve seen the clips from conferences that you’ve posted, they’ve seen video testimonials and they feel as if they already have had a great experience with your company! That’s just one platform. Don’t be intimidated. Hire a pro and determine the best mix of digital marketing for your company. Usually it’s a mix of content that includes: website, whitepapers, ebooks, webinars, videos, email marketing and regular social media posts. Start small. And be consistent.
